General functions, policies, rules and regulations of a community college. Applicable Education laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures including FERPA. California Master Plan for Higher Education, Student Equity & Achievement and the role of the community college.

Assist with understanding community college policies, procedures and processes such as transfer requirements, program development, financial aid, counseling/advising, disabled student programs career development/employment, testing, and tutoring.

Analyze student needs and confer with school personnel to make determinations as to the appropriate placement and course of action. Learn, understand and explain the meaning of assessment scores. Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, procedures, precedents and policies related to the assigned program. Investigate and analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations. Plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in a situation where numerous diverse demands are involved. Process and evaluate a variety of program applications, forms and documents.

Understanding needs and sensitivities of special and disadvantaged student populations in relation to working effectively with such groups identified. Awareness of disabled and at-risk student capabilities and behaviors. Effectively assist students who have different learning styles and differing levels of academic achievement.

Modern office practices and procedures including filing, the operation of the office, equipment, computers, record keeping and assigned software. Participate in related training, data collection and program evaluation functions. Principles of providing work direction and guidance to others. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Compile, assemble, maintain and disseminate a variety of resource and informational materials. Familiarity of social media platforms as well as college’s LMS – Canvas. Write reports, correspondence and informational presentations for staff and students. Use of proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Practices of public speaking, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Assist with research projects as requested. Utilize reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Apply research results to program planning and advisement services, as appropriate.

Selection Process:
After the preliminary screening, selected candidates will be invited to the campus for an initial interview with the Search Committee. Videoconference interviews (in lieu of an in-person initial interview) will be offered. Candidates to be interviewed will be selected from applicants who most closely meet the minimum and desired qualifications. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. The Search Committee will recommend finalists to the Superintendent/President for a final interview.
The District reserves the right to re-advertise the position or to delay indefinitely filling of the position if it is deemed that applicants for the position do not constitute an adequate applicant pool or if funding is not available.
Conditions of Employment:
Employees must satisfy all the pre-employment requirements prior to appointment that include, but are not limited to, tuberculosis clearance (EC 87408.6), fingerprint processing, and verification of their legal right to work in the United States. A pre-employment physical examination may be required.
